Case File 4 [Voice/Action] Pops is up to something....

[Inspector Zenigata hates Mondays. He hates Mondays after a weekend he can't freakin' remember even more. After all this time here, though, he's learned to just accept that something weird probably happened to him last weekend. It's a pretty crappy thing to accept, sure, but what choice does he have since those Malnosso punks won't show up and let him arrest them. Add to that the weirdness of that Were-Yeti incident...and you've got a cop who REALLY needs a distraction.

Regardless of the funkiness of the last few weeks, he wakes up and gets a move on. The man's got plans for today. Starting with a trip down to the shops, where he's picking up nails and a hammer, as well as various lengths of wood gathered from around town. He's got a project in mind, for the benefit of his sanity and the residents of Community House 5. The pickup process takes a few hours, so feel free to stop him or give him funny looks as he wanders between Community House 5 and the shops, whistling while he works.

After gathering supplies, the sounds of sawing, hammering, and generalized construction can be heard in the woods behind Community House #5. Zenigata is making quite a racket. After a while, he appears via the journal, saluting like any civic minded individual doing the community a service.]


Hey, anyone out there like to give me a hand? I'm tryin' to put together a little work-shack out back. Figured it would be a good way to keep a certain someone from blowing up apartments again. If you don't wanna help, thats fine. Just figured I'd give everyone some warning. Also...if there's anyone around who'd be willing to bring me some extra nails and maybe some water, that'd be great. Rather not stop workin' once I get started...

[Pops is impulsive, pissed off, and needing a project. Besides, he's building you a shack out of a sense of civic duty. He can't arrest you, doesn't mean he can't annoy you.]

Where are you going to put it? Did you do a few surveys? Did you even make up any blueprints?

[If Zenigata had bothered checking up on Lupin, he'd find that Lupin has been staying up for days straight, with glasses on and charcoal smudges on his fingers. The remaining room that wasn't a bedroom has been converted to a drafting room--there are papers all over the place.

Lupin's fully refreshed at the moment though. That missing weekend? He woke up on Jigen's couch. He has no idea how long he was passed out.]

I'm putting it a safe distance from House 5, out in the woods. Found a nice piece of level ground out here, and yea I did check it. As for blueprints, I figured I'd start cutting the wood and making a foundation before worrying too much about the inside. You got blueprints, bring them out and help.

Stop. Just stop. You're doing it wrong.

[He has plans, Inspector. Good plans--and he'll ask for help if he wants it!]

[At first the staccato noise from behind Community House 5 drove Adele away from that side of the Village as she walked. Such a racket was not doing her hangover any favors. She continues to walk off the worst of it on the other side of the plaza before curiosity gets the better of her and she wanders back over, bundled up in her coat and staring at the man building...something.]

Might I ask what it is you are building Monsieur?

[There's a new voice...]

I'm building a workshop, ma'am. Trying to keep it so Lupin doesn't blow up the apartment again.

I am certain the rest of the village will thank you for this. I, for one, already shall. Thank you for keeping his more explosive tendencies out of a residential building.

Yep. Just doin' my civic duty. A cop's gotta have something to do 'round here.

What is a certain someone doing that's resulting in blown up apartments?

[ Hi there, have an honestly curious girl with magenta hair looking way too interested in this and not at all worried about possible explosions. ]

I can bring water by if it sounds like something interesting.

[ Possibly help, depending. More than likely she'll probably stand around and watch if she does show up. ]

A certain someone is making something using chemicals he doesn't know much about. Something about smoke bombs. Either way, I don't like it. Not in my apartment building.

[ Yuri looks very excited all of a sudden. ]

I'll help! Those sound useful. Who's doing that? I'll figure out how to pay you guys in services if you start supplying them. Can you guys make other useful items?

Lupin's the one failing at making them. I'd ask him.

As far as what else we can make, well...I'm pretty good with a hammer and nails.

Lupin it is! Where does he live?

So you're good at building things. Like carpentry stuff right? So if I wanted a desk I could come to you?

He's still working on that, huh?

[ Her voice sounds passively judgmental. ] When was the lsat time he blew up the house? You remember?

Eh, he's prone to destructive fits. Not...normally his own home though.

[ Nope. She's not telling you how she offered him explosives. ]

Is he really that dangerous with explosives? [ ....Though, at least she didn't give them to him before asking this question. ]

No, not really. He's fine with them once he HAS them. Its when he's trying to make them that there's a problem.

Oh. [ She exhales a very loud sigh of relief. ]

Would giving him some explosives help or would that be a really bad idea?

[Moro is definitely not pleased by the sounds of construction in the forest. Despite this area being so close to the village, the idea of the village expanding has her anxious in and of itself. She approaches, growling darkly.]

What are you doing?

[A big wolf? He's heard about this one...just hasn't seen her yet. Zenigata's not normally an outdoorsie sort...nor the type to be intimidated by a growling animal]

Just putting a small hut together. Place for my friend to work without disturbing the rest of the village. Why? Something wrong, Miss?

Do you humans not have enough space in the village?

[It's very accusatory.]

Why do you need to reach into the forest?

[Zenigata gives the wolf an appraising look. She's definitely mad, but he's not backing down on this one. Pops don't scare.]

I'm on the very edge of the forest. I'm not cutting down anything, and I want this here so that my friend can work on his escape plan without disturbing the others, or risking discovery by the Malnosso. Surely you can give up a single clearing on the edge for that.

[There's a long, long moment where Moro remains silent, growling hatefully and contemplating. It's nearly two minutes before she reaches a final verdict.]
