Case File 01 [Action, Accidental Video]

(OOC: Sorry for the past tense, I prefer to write posts like this in that format)

[Near the forest's edge, morning sunlight streamed down through gaps in the leaves, while the area resonated with the stirrings of waking animals. A stately old elm tree towered high above the canopy, a small flock of sparrows chatting away noisily.  Far below at the base of the trunk was a middle aged man, snoring soundly.  Across his lap was a book, and not far away an old, weather beaten hat.  Completely unphased by the noises all around him, Inspector Zenigata Koichi continued to snooze.  High above the veteran cop, however, murder most foul was occurring.  The chirping sparrows nest was under assault by a crow, the larger bird having decided to steal a nest for itself by shoving the sparrow eggs out.

A pair of small, speckled birds eggs tumbled down and broke with a wet splattering sound....right on top of a certain Interpol agent's head.  With a start, Zenigata leaped to his feet, awake at last.]

OI OI!  WHAT THE HELL! [He wipes his hand through his hair, trying to clean out the bits of shell and goopy egg-white, his face red with anger]

WHATS THE BIG IDEA YOU DAMN BIRDS!  HOW'D YOU GET IN MY ROO-Uhhhh....Wait a minute!  This isn't my hotel room...and this damn sure isn't Monte Carlo... [Color drains from his face as the Inspector looks around in complete and utter confusion, the eggs forgotten as he notices the journal, and his hat.  He picks up the journal and glares at it for a moment.  He opens it up and starts looking through it, eventually finding the primary camera page.]

What the hell is this?  A camera? in a book? [He fiddles with knobs and buttons for a minute, until the recording light flicks on.  Clueless, Zenigata stares blankly at it for a moment as it records.]

All these crazy lights and things?  Damn, what the hell did I drink last night?  Musta been something strong, and I guess someone must've moved me...somewhere.  Probably that bastard Lupin...playing another prank on me....

[Zenigata keeps thumbing through the journal, with occasional snippits of video coming through, along with various curses....though he eventually he realizes that his back hurts.  It hurts a lot... and the journal falls onto the ground, video still going through.  The middle aged cop is flailing around trying to grab hold of the wings that have mysteriously appeared on his back.]

W...w....WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?

[Spreads her hands in a simple shrug.]

Lupin's not here. And it's not my fault you're here because I sure as hell didn't ask for it.

EH?! Lupin's not here? Then where the hell is he? Where IS this place anyway? I was in Monte Carlo last night and this sure ain't Monte Carlo.

Beats me old man, you're probably somewhere around Luceti. It's basically a different world.

Well.... good luck!

WHAAAAAT?!?!?!?!?!

[not that he expected Fujiko to be even remotely helpful. Zenigata makes a mental note to arrest her the next time he finds himself some handcuffs, and then plunks down on the ground to poke and prod the journal for information]

[Accidental video; jackin' with permission]

[identity profile] samurinjathief.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[For whatever reason, he sooner expected to see Lupin than the inspector; but still, this familiar face is not exactly an unwelcome sight. Ignoring the fact that they were enemies by profession for a moment, he often felt Zenigata was admirable for his incredible drive and persistence... they were not unlike one another, in that regard.

Goemon's intentions now were to shamelessly eavesdrop quietly observe this exchange between Fujiko and the inspector. The only problem, however, was that he was oblivious to the fact that he was actually being recorded, and has been for at least fifteen seconds.]

[Zenigata's eyes find the video as he's tearing through the journal, and they widen even further. This time its more surprise than anger, as the Inspector had always respected the samurai for his sense of honor. After all, he reminded himself, the current police came out of the old samurai caste]

GOEMON?! YOU'RE IN ON THIS TOO?! TELL ME WHATS GOING ON YOU JERK, AND STOP SITTING THERE ALL SMUG!

[A blink-and-you-miss-it look of dumb surprise flashed across his face. Oops. He made a mental note to be far more careful in future when using this foreign technology, especially when he would be relying on it a fair bit while stranded in Luceti.]

Calm down. I have nothing to do with the situation you are in.

[Frowning sternly, Goemon folded his arms loosely across his chest. Earplugs - those were something he would have to acquire with Zenigata in their midst.]

Jigen and I arrived here the same way, not long ago.

[identity profile] greatinspector.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
[The fact that Goemon is actually talking to him and not dismissing him like a heartless bitch is not lost on the Inspector, and he visibly calms down]

Eh...so...your telling me Jigen is here too? Well if the three of you are here and Lupin isn't...then that means it definitely wasn't a trap...

[he's mostly talking to himself...]

No, it wouldn't be like Lupin to just disappear on his friends. I know all his tricks and that definitely isn't one of them.

[He smacks a meaty fist into his palm and looks at the camera, returning his attention to the samurai]

Goemon. What is this place? That heartless woman said something about Luceti, but I've never heard of any place like that.

This.. is a world separate from our own. [He paused, aware of how bizarre that must have sounded - but this, alas, was now their reality; the nagging ache of his sensitive, seemingly useless appendages served as a constant reminder.] Unfortunately, it is not in one's power to return home when one wishes it, either.

Re: [Video]

[identity profile] greatinspector.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
You...are joking, right? [then he remembers WHO he's talking to.] Oh...no, its you. I guess not. [Goemon's probably the only person who could tell him that and make him believe it.]

So. Uh. why are we here? and do you know whats going on with these wings? Its weird, just suddenly having...y'know...wings.

[Video] I lied, fff.

[identity profile] samurinjathief.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
From what I understand, it is not known what exactly has summoned us to this place. However, beings known as the Malnosso are keeping us imprisoned within a barrier. [His expression darkened with deep disapproval before he pressed on.] I do not know if they are the ones responsible for our wings.

[Zenigata scratches his chin, obviously trying to process the outlandish things he's being forced to swallow, still thumbing through the journal] A barrier? Like, a wall or something? Why don't you cut it down with your sword then? I've seen you cut all kinds of crazy stuff, whats different about this...

[His voice trails off as he happens across the guide and begins reading a bit]

Damn, you weren't joking. I was hoping you'd grown a sense of humor...

[identity profile] samurinjathief.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[He just ignored that little jab - or tried to, at least - although his deepening frown hinted at the fact that he was unsurprisingly unamused. It was not his fault if the people around him could not easily stir up laughter inside him... although he was also to blame, of course, for taking many things rather seriously]

Even if I were to cut it, our problems would not be resolved. [This would be one of the few situations, it seemed, that could not be handled with a deft eye and a fierce, decisive swing of his blade.] The Malnosso are capable of tracking every individual's movements... and beyond the barrier is another group whose intentions are to kill us.

[identity profile] greatinspector.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well that...is not the news he was hoping to hear] Damn, the bad news just keeps getting worse and worse, eh Goemon? [He reads a bit more, distracted but keeping a keen detective eye on the video] So there is a town? [He picks up the journal and starts following the map in the guide]

Goemon, can you meet me somewhere when I get to town? I think its best that I...forget your past indiscretions with the law for now...till we can get all this sorted out. [Zenigata's voice has a grim edge to it, like he doesn't particularly want to ask for help, but he knows that he needs it]

[identity profile] samurinjathief.livejournal.com 2011-07-16 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[He acknowledged Zenigata's grudging truce with a simple nod. Often, Lupin, Jigen, and himself would leave the inspector to make his own way in difficult situations with the knowledge that he was capable of handling it, being charged with resolution and being quasi-invincible as he was. But the circumstances were starkly different than anything else they were accustomed to; it wouldn't hurt to lend a hand.]

You may contact me when you have arrived.

Re: [Video, about an hour later]

[identity profile] greatinspector.livejournal.com 2011-07-17 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Zenigata follows the road from the treeline toward the village, his broad face buried in the book. Every few steps he stops and groans, or angrily shakes the book. This occurs for the next hour or so, until he finally reaches the edge of the village, the guide largely finished.]

Oi, Goemon. I made it.

[identity profile] samurinjathief.livejournal.com 2011-07-17 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Understood. [The samurai left the video exchange at that, snapping his journal shut and tucking it into his hakamashita. From there, he made a somewhat long and uneventful trip to town from the eastern lake house, his pace leisurely albeit purposeful. This will take some time, alas.]

[Action]

[identity profile] greatinspector.livejournal.com 2011-07-17 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Zenigata leans against a building, resting out of the sun as he waits for the samurai. He continues to read, ignoring anyone who happens to look his way. Yes, he knows he has no shirt, but at least he has his hat. After a while his keen eyes see a familiar sight]

Oi! Goemon. Over here. [The Inspector waves his countryman over, a bit of a scowl on his face. He holds out a hand to shake] So...uh...first order of business...where can I get some clothes?

[Action]

[identity profile] samurinjathief.livejournal.com 2011-07-17 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Goemon noticed the proffered hand extended his way, but did nothing, as if uncertain what to do with it. He was unaccustomed in general with greeting someone by way of shaking hands, and couldn't remember the last time someone had approached him like this. Perhaps this was the way Zenigata addressed his superiors and other officials, but he felt it unnecessary for the inspector acknowledge his presence in this way. He didn't think it disrespectful not to return the gesture when they knew one another for a fairly long time, and as far as he was aware, were equals when they were not playing the ol' game of cat and mouse. Poker-faced, he inclined his head very slightly as to show he recognized the handshake, and then was quick to answer the man's question.]

If you are looking for the style of clothing which you typically wear, you may find it in a shop around the corner.

[Having taken several walks around town over the past few days, he was beginning to familiarize himself with where the more important establishments were.]

Re: [Action]

[identity profile] greatinspector.livejournal.com 2011-07-17 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Zenigata shrugged his shoulders and retracted his hand. The samurai was always a rather odd duck, even by the Inspector's standards.]

That would be good, yea. I wore that coat for a reason. How about some handcuffs? Feels weird not having them.

[Action]

[identity profile] samurinjathief.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
I do not know. [Shutting his eyes, he paused thoughtfully, long enough to where it seemed he had no intentions of saying anything more. Then...]

...I would suggest the weapons shop.

Re: [Action]

[Zenigata rubs his head, smiling a half smile] Eh...and wheres that?

[Action]

[identity profile] samurinjathief.livejournal.com 2011-07-18 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It will be near the clothing store. I believe it is named, Slash and Crash. [The samurai fell silent once more, beginning to wonder what else he would be needed for.]

There is an establishment where okonomiyaki is prepared.

It is mentioned in the the pages of your journal written by someone by the name of Raine Sage. I suggest that you read it, if you have not already.
